You have started to realise the immense health, comfort and lifestyle benefits from upgrading to an electric Adjustable Bed, but are confused by the Sizes, especially as they are often Split (Individual Control for Each side of the Bed)?
Here is a lowdown on the Australian Split Sizes and the brief Pros and Cons;
Split Australian King
Overall 1803 cm x 203 cm - Each side 91.5cm x 203cm
This is the most popular size for Split size Adjustable Beds. In simple terms, it is 2 x Long Singles, kept together by attaching the bases, or for electric Adjustables, simply the weight of the bases (they are pretty heavy with the Motors and method of Articulation).
Pros: Good space for each partner and if you needed to, can be separated into two Long Single Beds
Cons: Perhaps a little big for a smaller sized Master Bedroom? However considering this is equivalent to a single in width, I personally wouldn't go any smaller for a Split bed. I've seen Split Queens for sale with other retailers but they would be only 74 cm wide per side, that's smaller than a camp stretcher!
Linen: You will need Long Single Mattress Protectors and Fitted Sheets. The rest of your linen (flat sheets, doona, covers etc.) should be Super King. Napp does offer Bambi Long Single fitted sheets as well as the unique designed Bambi 'Butterfly' sheets for this size. We also sell Long Single Mattress Protectors, the best way to purchase your linen with no hassle and good value is our 'Linen Bundle'.
Split Californian King Plus
Overall 214 cm x 203 cm - Each side 107cm x 203cm
Note the 'Plus' or sometimes just the + symbol is used. This is a BIG bed, bigger than a normal Californian King.
Definitely increasing in popularity and will fit into decent sized Master Bedrooms. It is essentially 2 x King Singles. As big as it is, if you were looking for a single sized bed for yourself you would almost certainly choose a King Single, so why not one each for you and your partner if you have the space?
Pros: Plenty of room if you are a bigger person or simply like to stretch out. There is much more linen available in King Single than there is in Long Single.
Cons: You do need a big Bedroom.
Linen: You will need King Single Mattress Protectors and Fitted Sheets. The rest of your linen (flat sheets, doona, covers etc.) should be Californian King.
Napp offers Australian Made King Single sheets and the Unique Butterfly sheet by Bambi set for Cali King+. Whilst it is a little hard to get your head around at first, it is definitely easier to make the bed with a Butterfly sheet than 2 x King Singles. The simplest no hassle way to purchase quality and perfectly sized bed linen is to consider our 'Linen Bundle' designed for Split Linen beds.
Restful Sleeping!
